Getting started with auctions on LiveAuctioneers only takes a few simple steps:
1. Create Your Free LiveAuctioneers Account
Signing up for a free LiveAuctioneers account is quick, easy, and secure. Once your profile is complete, you can begin participating in online auctions, saving items, and following searches.
Your information remains private and secure. Any credit card details added to your LiveAuctioneers account are never shared with auction houses.
2. Follow Searches
Looking for something specific? Simply enter keywords into the search bar and click “Follow Search.” You’ll be notified whenever new items matching your criteria are added.
You can manage all followed searches from your dashboard or through the LiveAuctioneers mobile apps for iOS and Android.
3. Register for Auctions
Before bidding in an auction, you must first register by clicking “Register for Auction” on the catalog or item page.
You can also place absentee bids before the auction begins. If you haven’t been approved yet, submitting an absentee bid will automatically act as a registration request.
Most auction houses approve registrations within 24 hours. Since approval requirements vary, it’s recommended to register early in case additional information is required. Once approved, any absentee bids you’ve placed will become active.
4. Place Your Bids
Shipping and payment policies vary by auction house, so be sure to review these details before placing a bid. Also take note of the live bidding start time, when the auction begins with the first lot.
There are two ways to bid:
Absentee Bidding
You can place bids before the live auction starts. The absentee bidding system automatically keeps your bid at the lowest amount needed to stay in the lead, increasing only when another bidder competes—up to your maximum bid amount.
Live Bidding
Your chances of winning are significantly higher when bidding live. At the scheduled time listed on the catalog or item page, click “Enter Live Auction.” You’ll be taken to the live bidding console where the auction takes place in real time.

5. Win Your Treasure
If you win an item, LiveAuctioneers will notify you automatically. After the sale, you’ll arrange shipping and receive an invoice from the auction house.
Your credit card information on LiveAuctioneers is never shared, so some auction houses that do not accept online payments through LiveAuctioneers may contact you directly to complete payment.
