Original Union Station neon with original smaltz paint. Atlanta, Georgia, once had a historic Union Station, a central hub for rail travel, but it no longer exists today. 168-1/2" x 24" x 9". Item pick up recommended. Union Station (1853-1930): Opened: 1853; Demolitions: 1930. Location: Near the present Five Points area, downtown Atlanta. This first Union Station was built to serve multiple railroad companies, making it a central hub for travelers in the southeastern U.S. It was a symbol of Atlanta’s rapid growth as a transportation center. The station underwent significant expansions and renovations, but it was eventually demolished in 1930 to make way for a more modern structure.
