This first Union Station was built to serve multiple railroad companies, making it a central hub for travelers in the southeastern U.S. It was a symbol of Atlanta’s rapid growth as a transportation center. The station underwent significant expansions and renovations, but it was eventually demolished in 1930 to make way for a more modern structure.
